Having made a "siring sweep" of the 2012 Dan Patch Awards for 3-year-old pacers, American Ideal figured to be popular among breeders this year, and indeed he was. It was announced Monday that his book for 2013 is full and closed.
"We know he is the best value in the industry right now, but it's still a tough market. We really do appreciate the response and thank everyone for their support," said Brittany Stallion Management's Art Zubrod.
American Ideal, who stands in New York at Blue Chip Farms, became only the fifth sire in history to sire the same year's colt and filly champions in the 3-year-old pacing "glamour" division.
His son Heston Blue Chip p,2,1:50.4f; 3,1:48f ($1,405,658) was voted "Three-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year" while his daughter American Jewel p,2,1:50.2; 3,1:48.2 ($1,840,565), with four world records to her credit, was the overwhelming choice as "Three-Year-Old Pacing Filly of the Year."
Both horses capped their seasons with decisive victories in the year-end Breeders Crown Championships. (Brittany Stallion Management)
