American Lane made a quick move to the front past the opening quarter and held on to win the $46,500 Open Trot Friday night at the Meadowlands.
Cat Manzi drove American Lane to victory in a well-rated 1:53.4. Master Pine finished a half-length behind in second and Americas Finast was third. American Lane paid $5.40 to win the fifth race. American Lane started the year off right, increasing his total earnings to more than $400,000. American Lane is trained by Carl Cito Jr. and owned by David Scharf and Jerry Silva. In the $46,500 fillies & Mares Open Pace Stylish Solution extended her winning streak to 11 with a 1:50.3 victory in her 2008 debut. Brian Sears was in the bike for owner David Schneider and trainer Nat Varty as the 5-year-old Artiscape mare held off Miss Galvinator A and Daniel Dube by one-half length. Little Miss Dragon and John Campbell were third.(Meadowlands)
