Caviart Sydney and Bolero Toki upset favorites in the closing strides of their respective divisions and won eliminations Saturday night at Balmoral Park for next week’s $200,000 American National for 3-year-old filly pacers.

In the first elim Bolero Toki and Brent Holland overcame the favored Kissmekissmekissme and Ryan Anderson in deep stretch for a one-length victory in a career-best 1:51.1. Illinois champion My Metallica and Dave Magee were third, with Grandiose Gal and Allamerican Excel also advancing to the final.

Trained by Ervin Miller for owner Daniel Martin, Bolero Toki is a daughter of Western Hanover, who scored her third victory of the year in seven starts. All her previous starts have been at Hippodrome de Montreal.

Caviart Sydney, with Dale Hiteman driving, put her neck in front of the favorite The Queen Of Trash for a career-best 1:52.3 victory in the second elim. Lady N Diamonds was third followed by Ultimate Bet and CC Stacy.

Caviart Sydney, a Dragon Again filly owned by Caviart Farms and trained by Jim Arledge Jr., won for the first time this year in three starts.

Earlier on the Balmoral card, Fox Valley Barzgar romped to a season’s record 1:52 mile by 6 1/2 lengths in the first of two Hanover Stakes division for 2-year-old colt and gelding pacers.

Dave Magee drove the son of Incredible Finale to his second triumph of the year for trainer Tom Harmer and owners Shawn Nessa and John Boyer.

In the second split Coastal Highway and Tim Tetrick were wire-to-wire winners in 1:56. It was the first win of the season in two starts for the Jenna’s Beach Boy colt trained by Joe Seekman and owned by Suttons Bay Racing, Sawgrass Farms LLC and Broekhuis Stables LLC.
