November 02, 2005 | Print View

Balmoral Park will be the site Saturday night for a trio of $250,000 American National finals, including a match-up of top older trotters Peaceful Way and Hellava Hush. The two are both coming off wins in their respective Allerage Farm finals at The Red Mile Oct. 8.

Peaceful Way has won eight of nine starts this year and $545,804 to increase her career earnings to more than $1.88 million. The 4-year-old daughter of Angus Hall, whose wins include the Breeders Crown, has drawn post two for driver Trevor Ritchie. Hellava Hush will leave from post three for driver Dale Hiteman. The 5-year-old son of Lindy Lane has five wins in 20 starts this year, earning nearly a half-million dollars. He is only $27,171 shy of the $1 million mark for his career.

American National 3-year-old filly trot elim winners Arcola (post two, driver Tim Tetrick) and Victor's Pursuit (post six, driver Dave Magee) both hail from trainer Roger Welch's barn. They will take on a well-balanced field that includes Coulantine and Magenta Hall.

American National elim winner Town Champion has drawn post one in that final. Town Champion captured his elim in 1:49.3 for driver Eric Ledford. Fellow elimination winner Boulder Creek drew post four for driver Hiteman. The Breeders Crown champ won his elim in 1:51.1.

Also on the Saturday night card is the $70,000 Fairy Godmother for older pacing mares. Illinois champion Loyal Opposition, who is a 13-time winner in 2005--will look to add to her bulging bankroll against five rivals. Eleven 3-year-old colt trotters will line up behind the gate in the $72,500 Hanover.
