As expected, Ms. Virginia, Twilight Mist and Devilish Miss scored impressive victories in the three $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) 3-year-old filly trot preliminaries, on cold and windy Thursday at at Dover Downs.

Ms. Virginia raced the entire mile on the outside and still pulled away for a decisive 2:01.1 triumph in her $20,000 prelim. Tony Morgan drove the daughter of CR Commando, trained by Manley Brown for owner Lloyd Arnold, of Dover, Del., to her second straight win this year and fifth in a row dating back to last fall. Neverenough Rusty led throughout until turning for home with Ms. Virginia sitting on her flank. It was no contest in the stretch with Neverenough Rusty second and Molly McGuire taking third money with Jim Morand driving.

Mist Stable's Twilight Mist had no problems en route to her second win kin a row and seventh lifetime in 10 races as Tim Tetrick got the drive from trainer Jim Thompson. A top bred CR Commando filly, Mia Stellina, trained and reined by Rod Allen picked up second money with Super Snappy recovering from an early break rallying for driver Kim Vincent to finish third.

Devilish Miss enjoyed a perfect trip racing behind Lady Harley cutting out the early fractions with Art Stafford Jr. At the three-quarters Brandon Givens took Devilish Miss to the outside to race alongside the leader and then began to move away to a 2:03.1 victory. Diamonds Forever with Bryce Truitt was the show finisher. For Devilish Miss owners Ed Maas, Nanticoke Racing and driver Givens it was the CR Commando filly's first win this year with a second and third in three starts.

The top eight finishers in the prelims return on meet closing day, Thursday, April 12 for a $100,000 final. (with files from Dover)
