An attack at Colonial

Read Racing’s Civil Attack scored his fourth win of the meet and set a lifetime mark of 1:50.3 Wednesday night at Colonial Downs. Trainer-driver Dean Collins sent Civil Attack right to the front to seize control of the race. Civil Attack flew down the long Colonial Downs backstretch to set early fractions of :26.3 and :55 as My Buddy Frank tracked 1 1/2 lengths back in second.

Civil Attack kept up the strong pace around the turn and emerged at the top of the lane with a 1 1/4-length lead over Hero’s Cavalcade after three-quarters in 1:23.1. Hero’s Cavalcade closed strongly in the stretch but Civil Attack was resolute along the rail to prevail by three-quarters of a length. Wrangler Sam closed for third, two lengths behind Civil Attack.

The win was Civil Attack’s fifth of the year. The 3-year-old On The Attack colt easily eclipsed his old lifetime mark of 1:52. (Colonial Downs)
