Without much fanfare Mike Forte keeps winning races. On Monday, the 51-year-old native of Forte began the afternoon with a 2:02.3 trotting victory with Randy Ingrassia and Richie Lefkowitz’s Connors Blue Chip ($20.40) in the sixth and he didn’t visit the winner's circle again until the ninth and when he did he then reeled off three consecutive triumphs. In the ninth race Forte scored his second victory of the day behind Ralph Giove’s Miss Love ($7.80) in 1:59.2 and followed that with a 2:01.2 trotting triumph with John Devito’s Wishwell Sugarplum ($6.80). Forte capped his barrage winning the 11th race with Cannae Farm and Cory Lerner’s Cannae Arrow ($16) by 10 lengths in a 1:59 clocking. Forte began his career slowly in 1977 winning five races in 65 starts. Then, from 1984 through 1997, his best seasonal output was 82 victories during the 1986 campaign. He first hit triple figures in 1999 and hasn’t dipped below the century mark in races won since then with his 285 wins last season a career best. This year, competing mostly at Monticello Raceway and part time at Yonkers Raceway, Forte has 116 wins this season and has driven 2,592 winners thus far in his career. (Monticello)
