Veteran Expensive Flight won Tuesday night's $53,600 final of the Empire City Non-Claiming Series at Yonkers Raceway. With Jim Meittinis driving for co-owner and trainer Dave Hrabovsky, the 10-year-old Expensive Scooter gelding found a seat coming the half, then zipped along the cones to win in a season's-best 1:56 in this event (series No. 6 for those keeping score) featuring base $10,000 claimers. Expensive Flight defeated pacesetting Meantnodisrespect (Gregr Grismore) by 3 1/4 lengths, with Privilege Hanover (Mike Forte) third. Energetic View (Stephane Bouchard), the slight 2-1 choice, was a non-facor fifth behind The Pan I Love (Robert Sumner). For Expensive Flight, his second win in 11 seasonal starts more than doubled his '07 earnings to date. Peter Hrabovsky and Michael Janis also co-own Expensive Flight, who returned $8.10 as the third choice. The exacta paid $42.60, with the triple good for $150. Tuesday night's $25,000 series consolation went to down-the-road favorite Brian Number One (Jack Baggitt Jr., $4.20), who crushed his foes by four easy lengths in 1:56.1. (Yonkers)
