Angel Dark (pictured), a 4-year-old owned by trainer Anders Lindqvist and the Gerry family's Arden Homestead Stable, won the 38,000 euro Prix Irene (Merci Alfred) on Tuesday night at Paris-Vincennes. The trotter was purchased at the 2013 sale held in conjunction with the Prix d'Amerique by Peter Gerry and Lindqvist.
Driven by Johanna Lindqvist, the 32-1 longshot winner scored for the fifth time in 12 starts this year. The winner's time for the 2,700 meters (1.68 miles) was a mile rate of 2:00.67. Lindqvist patiently remained in the pocket until getting out of tight quarters in the stretch. Angel Dark did the rest, powering to the line decisively.
Angel Dark has earned 10 checks for approximately $68,192. He qualified in early February and made his first start at Mons-Ghlin on February 28.
Angel Dark is a son of Look de Star-Quadrata Des Jipes. The only American blood in his pedigree is on the side of his sire, who is by Coktail Jet (Quouky Williams-Armbro Glamour, by Super Bowl).
