Announcer Salive to summer at Canadian tracks

After spending this past winter in Florida calling races at Pompano Park, Frank Salive has told Trot Insider he’ll soon be making his way back to Ontario to supply his services to a number of tracks. Salive has confirmed he’ll make his way to the booth--with binoculars firmly in his grasp--at Clinton, Hanover and Woodstock Raceways.

“I am really glad that Ian Fleming, Gord Dougan and Paul Masters entertained the notion of allowing me the privilege to come back and serve Ontario racing,” said Salive, who will honor his commitment to Pompano Park until the end of the meet on May 22. “This will be my 10th year at each of Clinton and Woodstock and my fifth season at Hanover.

“I'll be attending the Western Fair Raceway Wall Of Fame inductions for Terry Kerr, Don McElroy and Ross Battin and Molson Pace before starting back at Woodstock, Hanover, and Clinton on the May 29-30 weekend,” Salive added. “This summer I am also committed to work three dates at Tioga Downs on July 15-16 and Sept. 10 and I am very thankful to Jeffrey Gural and Jason Settlemoir for this opportunity. I'll also work anywhere else that any of the tracks in Ontario, New York, Pennsylvania or Ohio may need provided I am not previously committed. After Oct. 2 at Hanover I'll be returning to Florida for the 2010-11 season at Pompano.”

While Salive has enjoyed his tenure in Florida this winter, he is quick to admit he’s looking forward to his return to the Great White North.

“Working and living seasonally in Florida is terrific, but I will always be a Canadian, and in equal measure I am deeply grateful to return to Ontario and for the chance to be a part of the Ontario Sires Stakes which has been such a great part of my life and career since 1974.” (SC)
