Noble Tess overpowered seven rivals to win the $32,500 Delaware Special pace in 1:50.3 Monday at Dover Downs, while Ron Pierce drove six winners, Jim Morand, Tony Morgan three each, on a fast 15-race card. Jim Neal's Fountain Of Youth, winner of last week's Harrington Open, came right back for Morand's third win of the night taking the $26,000 Open Handicap pace in 1:50.4. Sharky Osborne with Tim Tetrick finished second while Bullion Bill A and Pierce were third. In the $21,000 winners-over pace, Pierce picked up his fifth of six wins during the card driving Next Flight past pacesetter and favorite Mattdultery and Morand in mid stretch on the way to a lifetime-best 1:51 score for owners Henry Faragalli Jr. and III, Belle Bauman and trainer Del Cote. Pukpuk Power N with Corey Callahan closed along the passing lane to finish third.
Beware Beret thundered down the lane for Hall of Famer Pierce to notch his second win of the night, a 1:52.3 decision in the first of three $20,000 winners-over paces. Owned by Mike Zimmerman, John Wilson and trainer Erika Paradee, the Green Beret gelding held off fast-finishing Home Run Hudson (Wolfenden) and Print It (Eddie Davis Jr.) at the wire. In another $20,000 winners-over section, Dean Richardson's Kennans Josh just got in deep stretch for Morgan to post a 1:52.3 victory. Hot Lather (Wolfenden) had led until the closing steps and finished second in front of Wardog Hall (Pierce). Larry Baron's Wils Scooter A scored for the third time in his last four outings, a convincing 1:51.1 triumph, in the other $20,000 winners-over. Tetrick drove the winner for trainer Josh Green. Midnight Walk (Wolfenden) was next. Black Cat Bone (Pierce) was a close third.
Full Of Elegance shot down the passing lane to catch leader Auto Pilot (Tetrick) in late stretch for a 1:52.4 victory in a $16,500 3-4-&5-year-old pace to give Pierce his third winner on the card. Fill The Bank was placed third when Nights Nautical (George Dennis) was taken down for interference at the top of the lane. Defending trainer champion Josh Green conditioned TSM Scar Face, a 1:52.3 winner of the $40,000 claiming allowance pace. Scootin Scholar (Morand) led until nearing the finish line and held on for second. Sarah's Legacy (Pierce) was third. (Dover Downs)
