John Campbell crafted a second-over trip for A And G'sconfusion and the 2-year-old filly won the $660,200 Three Diamonds Saturday night at Woodbine, giving her victories in both of Woodbine/Mohawk's signature races for freshmen pacing fillies. Earlier this year she won the She's A Great Lady at Mohawk.
Thong, Up Front Bethann and Art's Diva took turns as the leader through splits of :27.1 and :55.2 before Campbell began to threaten with A And G'sconfusion on the last turn. Early in the stretch drive there was no doubt who the winner would be as A And G'sconfusion tipped off her cover (Sprig Hanover) and turned on a burst of speed that quickly put her on a clear lead.
Art's Diva held on for second, finishing 4 3/4 legnths behind the winner, and See And Be Seen rallied for third.
A And G'sconfusion has now won five of eight starts. The filly by Allamerican Native is trained by Mark Capone and owned by the A & G Stables of New York.
