Beachy Girl took another step toward this year’s Shes A Great Lady Stake with a flawless victory in Thursday night's $54,200(C) Whenuwishuponastar Series final at Mohawk Racetrack. Mark MacDonald guided the rookie daughter of Real Desire-Color Me Beachy to the 1:54.1 win and, in the process, kept her undefeated streak in tact at four straight.

Leaving from post one in the field of eight, Beachy Girl got away fourth through the opening quarter of :27.3. MacDonald put her in gear in the second stanza and cleared to command in :56.4. After the three-quarters flashed up in 1:26.1, the sprint was on and the race was for place.

Beachy Girl won by 2 1/4 lengths over last week’s winner BM Mcw with Seafaring Girl landing the show spot. More than $20,000 was wagered to show on Beachy Girl who paid just $2.70 for the win.

“She’s just really handy and almost acts like an aged horse out there,” said winning driver MacDonald. “You want to try and teach them a bit at this point, so I just let things settle early and then moved her to the front in the second quarter.

“I asked her at the top of the stretch. She paced hard for about an eighth of a mile and then I shut her down again at the end.”

Beachy Girl is trained by Joe Seekman who co-owns along with Hal Hewitt of Versailles, Kentucky. The win increased her seasonal bankroll to just over $50,000(C). (WEG)
