October 06, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

With a steady win blowing from the northeast, exremely rare at The Red Mile, Friday's race card began under brisk-but-sunny conditions. The first race was a $12,500 late-closer for horse and gelding pacers and Anvianunoit N rolled to his fourth straight victory with a 1:51 effort.

David Miller was in the sulky behind the 7-year-old Jaguar Spur gelding owned by former University of Kentucky and professional basketball star Sam Bowie, with the Lexington resident bringing a large group of friends with him to the winner's circle.

Finishing second was South Park Hanover, with Glors Boy third. John Duer trains the winner for Bowie.

A $14,000 late-closer for freshman colt and gelding trotters went to The Steelman and driver Tim Tetrick in 1:53.1. Pirate Image was second with Fire Island third.

The maiden-breaking win for The Steelman came in the son of Blissfull Hall's fourth career start. Joe Seekman trains for owner Steel A Mile of Holland, MIch.

The final $14,000 late-closer went to Active Trading and driver Ron Pierce in 1:53.2. Seekman trains the winning son of Allamerican Ingot for owner William and Sheryl Tuleja. Wildridge Sam was second with Yankee Man third.
