A Pompano big shot

JK Big Shot rolled to a two length, 1:52.3 mark Saturday at Pompano Park in capturing the $10,000 Open Handicap Pace for driver Brett Miller.

The featured race started off with Bronson Hall and driver Stephan Lareau powering the lead with Doctor Viagra (Kevin Wallis) getting the pocket trip to the opening quarter mile in :27.2. Wallis then pulled the pocket at the half-mile mark in :56.4 and blew by Bronson Hall to take command, but he was challenged right away in the backstretch by JK Big Shot, who was able to clear to the lead by the three-quarters in 1:24.3. Doctor Viagra came first up with Ginnie’s Best (Bruce Ranger) following the outside flow but by then it was too late.

With Miller leaning back in the bike, JK Big Shot held the field at bay down the stretch and breezed to the easy victory. Ginnie’s Best was second with Doctor Viagra third.

A 4-year-old stallion by The Panderosa, JK Big Shot tied his lifetime mark with the 1:52.3 victory. He is trained by Gary Lemaister and is owned by Jean Picard of Orford, Quebec. JK Big Shot has been nominated to the $250,000 Isle of Capri Pacing Series that begins at Pompano Park on Feb. 3.
