Horseman Mickey McNichol, 55, suffered a broken ankle that needed surgery for pin placements following a training accident Wednesday morning at the South Florida Training Center. McNichol was training a filly that spooked and dumped him to the track.

Penn National has announced it is acquiring Argosy Gaming Co. for $1.4 billion cash. Argosy announced last week it had purchased Raceway Park in Toledo, Ohio, for about $20 million.
