Indiana mayor's plan KO'd
January 21, 2005
Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson's plan to finance a new stadium by adding 1,500 pull-tab machines downtown was dismissed Thursday. Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma labeled the proposal, introduced in December, as "dead." However, there are still other plans for slots at the state's racetracks.

Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm has appointed Christine C. White as acting racing commissioner in the Wolverine State. Ms. White is currently deputy director of the Michigan Dept. of Agriculture and a former administrative officer with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Veterinary Services.
