Yonkers to open Wednesday October 10, 2006
Yonkers Raceway announced Tuesday afternoon that it will open the first phase of its video gaming facility Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 9:30, with 1,870 video gaming machines being turned on a half-hour later.

Astreos dies in New Zealand October 10, 2006
Astreos, winner of the 2000 Little Brown Jug, was found dead at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, in his paddock at Alabar Farm in New Zealand. According to farm manager Graeme Henley, the death of the Artsplace stallion came as a total surprise.
