Purse increase set at Yonkers

Yonkers Raceway has announced an across-the-board purse increase, effective next Monday, March 30. The increases range from $1,000 for the bottom claiming/conditioned class to $9,000 for the weekly Open Handicaps--trotters, pacers and distaff pacers. That trio shall now race for $40,000 each.

Michigan Hall of Famer Charlie Kline dies

Michigan Harness Racing Hall of Famer Charlie Kline died on Sunday at age 85. Mr. Kline was the presiding judge at county fairs in Michigan for more than 40 years. He was the speed secretary at the Midland County Fair since 1958 and was instrumental in starting the Spartan Futurity in 1996.
