After sitting fourth with Enough Talk setting wicked fractions, Arch Madness and Brian Sears poured on the steam down the stretch to win Saturday’s $728,600(C) Maple Leaf Trot at Mohawk in a stakes record Enough Talk (Luc Ouellette) lead the field to a :26.2 opening quarter with Corleone Kosmos (John Campbell) sitting in the pocket. After the :54.4 half, Corleone Kosmos pulled but could never get past Enough Talk’s wheel. At the 1:23 third quarter, Enough Talk looked tough to beat but Arch Madness had cover from Corleone Kosmos and without any urging, got up to win impressively by 2 ˝ lengths. The Enough Talk finished second with Armbro Chronicle (Mike Saftic) getting up for third and Colombian Necktie (Thomas Uhrberg) holding on for fourth. Arch Madness went off at odds of 9/5. The four-year-old Trond Smedshammer trainee is by Balanced Image out of the S J’s Photo mare Armbro Archer. After finishing second in each of his last four starts, this win made Arch Madness’ lifetime earnings soar past $1.6-million for owners Marc Goldberg of “I look forward to racing him next year,” said Sears.
