Artciano pulled out of second on the final turn on the way to a 1:53.2 victory in the Ed Long Memorial at Dover Downs on Thursday.

Bret Brittingham stalked race favorite Sharky Osborne (Eric Goodell) from the start before taking on the leader as the field turned for home. In the stretch Artciano had the most pace to score his 10th win of the year for owner Larry Hughes. The Artiscape-Armbro Awesome gelding has now won $95,049 this season. Charger (Mike Cole) closed well to beat Sharky Osborne for second money.

The race honored the late horseman Ed Long, a longtime Delaware Standardbred Owners Association (DSOA) member who served in his later years on the DSOA board.

Veteran pacer Racan John returned to his winning ways as Vic Kirby drover the Wynfield Mark-Heavy Thunder gelding to a 1:54.1 score in a Delaware $20,000 claiming allowance. Dan Warrington trains and co-owns Racsan John with Don Hawk, a horse they bred. Al Ibad Spider (Jim Morand) was runner-up. Ideal Shuttle (Jim King) was the show finisher.

Tony Morgan drove his second winner on the card Ken Dawson's Out Of My Pocket to a 1:54.1 victory in a $14,000 pace. The son of Misfit-Purse Snatcher was the only 5 year old in the field of eight. Passit (Corey Callahan) was next in font of Buffalo Rome (Goodell). (Dover Downs)
