Despite drawing post position nine–behind the other eight starters, in the second tier—New York Sire Stakes champ Artimittateslife has been installed as the overwhelming 6-5 favorite in Saturday’s $122,500 Courageous Lady Pace for 3-year-old fillies at Northfield Park.

Owned by Ontario trainer Robert Young, in partnership with Paul Gazzola and Brian Barton, Artimittateslife has won nine of 14 starts this year, banking an impressive $479,139. She won the $175,000 New York Sire Stakes final at Yonkers Raceway on Sept. 13, and in her most recent start was a winner in a $35,313 leg of the Trillium at Mohawk Raceway, near Toronto. Brett Miller is scheduled to drive, although he is also listed on second-choice Slaley.

Slaley, trained for this race by Virgil Morgan Jr., has won four of five starts since being purchased by Ian Fromowitz of Richmond Hills, Ont., a Toronto suburb, and Gerrie Tucker of Montreal. She will be racing on short rest after winning a $20,000 Ontario Sire Stakes in gate-to-wire fashion Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Kawartha Downs. She was timed in 1:54.3 in that race. A daughter of Grinfromeartoear, she has been assigned a morning line of 7-2 from post three.

Other top contenders include Diva Delight (PP 5, 4-1), Pavla Hanover (PP 2, 9-2), and Riverbank Hanover (PP 1, 6-1).

The Courageous Lady is scheduled as race 12 on a 14-race card that begins at 7 p.m. Eastern Saturday. Courageous Lady post time is anticipated at 11:03 p.m. Also on tap Saturday is the $25,000 Ohio Sire Stakes Championship for veteran pacers, featuring a well-matched group of seven Ohio-breds.
