Artiscape, a Breeder’s Crown champion and sire of seven millionaires, underwent surgery for colic early Monday morning at the New England Equine Practice in Patterson, NY. According to Brittany Stallion Management, it is currently too early for a long-term prognosis. Artiscape, who is 15, will not be available for service for the rest of the season.
Artiscape stands at Winbak Farms of New York and is part of the stallion line-up of Brittany Stallion Management. A son of Artsplace, Artiscape's richest offspring is the ill-fated Maltese Artist, a winner of $2.3 million. Other top performers sired by Artiscape include $1.8 million winner Escape The Wind and the filly champion Rainbow Blue, the 2004 Horse of the Year and a winner of $1.4 million.
