A saksy shoot at Pompano

Pompano Park was transformed into a photo studio last weekend complete with models, lighting, make-up, wardrobe, and the constant clicking of cameras as the senior art director, Victoria Greiss, from Saks Fifth Avenue and photographer, Anders Overgaard, shot photographs for their March 2007 women’s catalog.

They selected the racetrack grandstand and facilities owned by the Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. as the backdrop and setting to be featured in 37-pictures of the next catalog entitled “A Day At The Races.”

The photography crew set up shots on the racetrack, as well as the Top of the Park Restaurant, 4th floor box seat area, valet entrance to the Grandstand, the trackside level seating area and in front of the infield tote board.

“I knew this was the place where we wanted to shoot within ten minutes of being here,” said David Gordin of Tandem Productions of Miami, the production company hired by Saks Fifth Avenue. “This grand facility has the prestigious aura of horse racing that we were looking for. The shoot has gone magnificently and Friday night the entire crew stayed for dinner and a night of betting the races and we had a great time.”
