A Soprano visits Pompano

March 26, 2009 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Sopranos star Vincent Pastore, who portrayed Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on the hit TV series and recently completed a stint on the soap opera General Hospital, was at Pompano Park on Wednesday evening.

Pastore came to the track to watch a friend of his compete, trainer/driver Raymond Vizzi, who had Ferraras Girl in the fifth race - an $8,500 featured trot.

Lewies Lulu and trainer/driver Andy Santeramo led from start to finish en route to winning in 1:58.2. Docs All Class and Rovasreadytorumble finished second in a dead heat and Vizzi, who came first-over at the half with Ferraras Girl, finished fourth.

It was the second straight win for Lewies Lulu, a seven-year-old mare by Armbro Rotary who is owned by the Joel Benson Stable of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

“What happened?” Pastore asked after the race. “My man Ray was so close. Let’s do the race over again.”

Pastore mingled throughout the crowd at the track, signing autographs and posing for photos with race fans. He then had dinner at the casino’s Farradday’s Steak House and was planning on playing the slot machines later on.

“I love it here. Pastore said. “I think I am going to have to come back this Saturday and see Ray drive again. He promised me he would win this time.” (Pompano Park)
