Spunky Vic, overlooked at 13-1 from the rail, splashed his way to a 1:57.4 victory on a rain filled Dover Downs on Thursday. Tom Jackson left fast with Arty Foster's Spunky Vic, a Valley Victor-B Cor Spunky 4 year old, and cut out all the fractions in a convincing 1:57.4 triumph. The gelding fought off a sustained challenge from Early Shirley (Clifton Green) on the backstretch until reaching the three-quarter pole. He then sprinted away quickly building a commanding lead and was uncontested in the stretch. Fivedollarsforsox (George Dennis) out battled race favorite Showmeyourmuscles (Tony Morgan) to finish second. Three Point Acres' U Lucky Guy was Morgan's third winner on the program. The Northern Luck-CK Angel 5 year old took the lead in front of the grandstand and was never troubled en route to a 1:53.1 win in a $12,000 male pace. H Hall (Brian Burton) was runner up. Nights Nautical (Dennis) finished third. Ken Wood, recently named winner of the U.S. Harness Writers Association's January Davies Humanitarian Award for his charity work digging wells in Ghana, had a two-for-two winning night. Yada Yada Yada A returned to the races for the first time since September and scored a 1:54 victory with Roger Plante at the controls. The 8-year-old Armbro Operative-Fiddybits mare won a $7,500 filly and mare pace. He is owned by Wood, Bill Dittmar, Steve Iaquinta and Henry King. Later Kennywood, an Arnwood-Kentucky Queen gelding trotter Wood also owns with King came from last to first to win a $7,500 trot with Jim Morand in the bike for the 1:59.1 win. In addition to Morgan's three wins, George Dennis, Morand and Jonathan Roberts drove two wins each. (Dover Downs)
