True Blue Lindy scored the biggest upset at Pompano Park in over a year when taking the second race trot on Wednesday at odds of 103-1 for driver-trainer Rolf Ebener, returning $209 on a $2 win bet.

Driven from post eight, True Blue Lindy cleared the field off the gate and trotted right to the lead, taking the field through fractions of :29.1, 1:00.4, and 1:30.4. After entering the stretch with a 2 1/2-length advantage, True Blue Lindy held off a late charge by Rosiecomouttonite (Marc Aubin) to win by a length in 2:01.1. Race favorite Adrian’s Speed (Bruce Ranger) finished third.

“I knew he (True Blue Lindy) could win tonight but I don’t pay attention to the odds.” Ebener, a native of Siegen, Germany said. “My horse was good at Lexington, Ky., last year before I rested him. He wanted to race well tonight so I let him go right at the start.”

Wednesday’s race was the seasonal debut for True Blue Lindy, who hadn’t competed in a pari-mutuel event since a seventh-place performance at The Red Mile in September 2006. It was also the first career victory for the 3-year-old son of Dream Vacation, owned by Klaus Ringl of Austria.

True Blue Lindy’s $209 payout was the highest at Pompano Park since Feb. 15, 2006, when Call The Trotters returned $261.60. The highest return on a $2 win bet at Pompano is $385.20, set by Doc’s Krista in the first race on Oct. 1, 2004.

Driver David Ingraham visited the winner’s circle three times on the Wednesday program and in the process scored the 5,500th victory of his career.

Ingraham began his evening with a victory in the opener, guiding Class Action Scoot ($20.80) through the wire first. Ingraham would return to take sixth event with Jaguar ($13.80) before completing his triple with Kinetic Kid ($5.40), his 5,500th lifetime winner, in race nine. (Pompano Park)
