Although he was getting the trip, Brett Miller sensed that, with challengers starting to gain outside, the time was right to move Automatic Slims. That judgment was vindicated when the 8-year-old son of Bettor's Delight-Natchitoches drew off to score in 1:53.3 on a sloppy surface, 1 1/4 lengths better than the rallying Ballistic Tip. Visible Gold, who saw his own three-race winning streak snapped, saved show.
Brewer Adams trains Automatic Slims, a career winner of $234,974, for Laurie Patistas. Dave Palone and Miller each drove three winners on the 11-race card.
