Top human and equine stars were honored Sunday night as the Saratoga Harness Horseperson’s Association, in conjunction with the Saratoga chapter of the US Harness Writers Association, held its annual awards dinner at the Holiday Inn on Broadway in Saratoga Springs.

Gimmebackmybullets won 2007 pacer of the year honors by virtue of a 15 for 32 win record. The son of Bettor’s Delight, campaigned locally by top trainer Jackie Rousse, racked up 10 victories in Saratoga’s weekly overnight feature including a track record-equaling 1:51 mile on July 3.  Gimmebackmybullets also raced successfully at Hippodrome de Montreal where he set a 1:49.3 career mark earlier in the year.  He has banked $206,788 this season and was driven by Denis St. Pierre for owner Randy Zane in most of his starts.

Ackbro Ms. Perfect was the queen of the trotting scene.  She took the trotter of the year title for trainer/driver Scott Mongeon.  The daughter of Credit Winner had five local victories against open company, including a 1:56.3 score.  She had eight place finishes and four show finishes as well, all adding to her $85,360 in seasonal earnings.   She is owned by Daniel and Steven Ackerknecht.

Queen Of The Stars received awards as both 2-year-old pacer of the year and best Sire Stakes performer.  The Village Jove filly made four trips to the winner's circle as well as four seconds and a third in 12 seasonal tries.  Stephane Bouchard guided her to victory in a $48,502 sire stakes leg at Saratoga on Aug. 29 in which she set a track record 1:54.4.  The victory was part of a four-race streak that included late closer wins at Vernon and Yonkers.  She banked $51,898 for owner Tina Raia and trainer Glenn Raia.

Jackie Rousse won both Horsewoman of the Year and Trainer of the Year honors as she continues to vie for the lead in the standings with Ron Cushing.  Top reinsman Dan Cappello Jr. took both Horseman of the Year and Driver of the Year honors, as he tops the charts with 270 wins and over $1.5 million in earnings.  Up and coming awards went to driver Chris Long and trainer Ed Clement.
