Designer Gal posted a career-best 1:52.4 effort while Grandiose Gal needed just 1:54.4 to capture their respective Kentucky Sire Stakes eliminations for 3-year-old filly pacers at The Red Mile Sunday night.

Marcus Johansson was in the sulky behind Designer Gal as she defeated Bare Legs (Dan Shetler) and Kentucky Summer Championship final winner Betsy Hall (Rocky Loney). Clova (Tony Hall) finished fourth to also earn a spot in the final.

A daughter of Cambest owned by Brittany Farms and Daisy Acres, Designer Gal is trained by Erv Miller. The win was her fourth in seven starts this year. In her last start she finished second by a nose to Betsy Hall in the Summer final.

Grandiose Gal won her first start in seven attempts this year for driver Mickey McNichol. The daughter of Jate Lobell bested a late-closing Yoko Hall (Jeff Cullipher) with Otherpeoplesmoney (Ricky Macomber Jr.) third. Allamerican Excel (Tom Sells) was fourth.

Lightning Stable owns the winning Grandiose Gal, who is trained by Tony Mannino.

The top four finishers in each plus a fifth-place finisher drawn by lot will return for the Sire Stakes final Sunday, Aug. 27.
