August 14, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

With the Illinois State Fair’s top dash-winning driver, Dave Magee, at her lines, Me And My Baby bounced back from her disappointing Sweetheart performance and easily captured the $45,000 Review Stakes 2-year-old filly pace in 1:54.3 Monday over a damp track at Springfield.

Leaving from the outside post eight, Magee steadied the Artiscape filly around the sticky first turn. Then once on the backstretch he moved her to the front and before the :56.2 half she was in control of the field. The three quarters was passed in 1:25.3 and from there she drew away from the field to score her fourth triumph of the year in six starts for trainer Bruce Nickells and owner Glenby Farms.
Absolutelymichelle and Michael Oosting nosed out Odds On Arttoheart and tim Tetrick for third.

In other Review Stakes on an overcast and humid afternoon that produced light showers over the last half of the 12-race program:

Boardwalk Hall rallied in the stretch for career best 1:53.1 victory in the $58,000 Alexander Memorial 3-year-old colt and gelding trot with Mike Lachance driving for trainer Ron Gurfien. The Conway Hall colt picked up his sixth win of the season for Brittany Farms, Sampson Street Stable, Jerry Silverman and Mathias Meinzinger.

Coastal Highway won a photo finish over Active Trading and captured the $50,000 Little Pat 2-year-old colt and gelding pace in 1:53.2. Tim Tetrick drove the Jenna’s Beach Boy colt to his second score in three starts for trainer Joe Seekman and owners sutton’s Bay Racing, Broekhuis Stable LLC and Sawgrass Farm LLC.

My Foolish Dream also won a photo finish, defeating Tresokay in the $35,000 Review Stakes 3-year-old filly trot with a 1:56.3 mile. Trainer MarkO’Mara was in the bike as the daughter of Dream Vacation remained undefeated in three starts this year for owner Darlene McNulty.
