Badlands Nitro favored in second Jug Future pool

The second of three pools on the 2008 �Future Wager� for the Little Brown Jug is fast approaching and Badlands Nitro, winner of the $500,000 Battle of the Brandywine and $538,270 Art Rooney final, is the 4-1 favorite. Wagering will get underway at noon Thursday and run through 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24.

Somebeachsomewhere, who was the 3-1 betting choice in the first future wagering pool, is next at odds of 9-2. Somebeachsomewhere is not expected to race in the Jug.

In a post-race interview following the colt�s victory in Sunday�s Confederation Cup at Flamboro Downs, trainer and co-owner Brent MacGrath was asked what are the chances of seeing SBSW race in the Jug. MacGrath said, �Not very good if it is left up to me. However, I am only a part owner. We are hoping to do some magical things at Lexington.�

MacGrath pointed out there are only nine days between the Jug and SBSW�s first stake at Lexington.

Santanna Blue Chip is third in the morning line at odds of 6-1. Santanna Blue Chip was third to Somebeachsomewhere and Badlands Nitro in the NA Cup final, second to Badlands Nitro in the Art Rooney final, and second to SBSW in Sunday�s Confederation Cup final.

The Field is also 6-1 in the morning line. The Field includes all 3 year olds except the 23 who are ranked in the future pool morning line. Meadowlands Pace winner Art Official is included in the Field. Although he is not eligible to the Little Brown Jug, Art Official can supplement into the Jug if he should win the Cane Pace, scheduled for Sept. 2 at Freehold Raceway. Art Official will be supplemented into the Cane according to trainer Joe Seekman.

Future wagering will be offered at racetracks and on internet sites throughout North America. Complete past performance lines for all Jug eligibles will be available free of charge on the Little Brown Jug web site.

A team of six racing analysts and handicappers selected the group of 23 colts and geldings. Each colt was then assigned odds based on the selection order.
