Balmoral set to open Tuesday night

Live harness racing action returns to Balmoral Park on Tuesday night as the countdown to Super Night XIX begins. Fans will be treated to reduced takeouts on Pick 5 wagers, 10-cent superfectas, and plenty of fast-paced action as the Crete plant returns to its Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday night racing schedule.

The takeout on the 50-cent Pick 5 wager, which will consist of races three through seven, will be 15 percent each night. In addition to Pick 5 wagering, Balmoral Park will also present a nightly Pick 4 and Pick 3 wager as well.

By popular demand the 10-cent Superfecta wager has returned to Balmoral Park. Originally the first track in Illinois to implement the low-cost wager, this low-risk, high-reward play will be offered on virtually every race at Balmoral Park.

In conjunction with Cal Expo, the $25,000 Guaranteed Bal-Cal Pick 4 will give fans another shot at a big jackpot every Wednesday night for the remainder of the 2007 racing schedule.

There will be plenty of excitement on the track as well as the countdown to Illinois’ biggest night of harness racing, Super Night XIX, begins. The remainder of the summer stakes schedules kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 25, with a pair of prestigious American National Stakes for 3-year-old trotters. Super Night eliminations take place on Saturday, Sept. 8, and Sunday, Sept. 9, with the finals being contested on Saturday, Sept. 15. A huge American National night is also on tap for Saturday, Nov. 3, with six Am-Nat finals bringing North America’s top pacers and trotters to the Crete oval.

Balmoral Park will also present an on-line Pick 6 Six Challenge beginning Aug. 7 which will give fans a chance to win a rollover jackpot via this new on-line challenge. Handicappers will be asked to pick the winners of six consecutive races from the live race card each night with the jackpot starting at $100. The pot will then increase by $25 each day if the “challenge” is not hit. If multiple players hit the jackpot the prize will be split accordingly. Fans will also be able to access live racing programs for free every Tuesday and Wednesday night simply by logging on to www.balmoralpark.com.
