Barbara R. Baum, 77, a longtime Standardbred owner who owned such notables as Doin The Town and Baltic Brat, has died.

She was a partner with Joe Thomson of Winbak Farm for 20 years and they never had an argument. Some of their partnership horses were Doin’ The Town 3,1:54.2 ($475,274), Baltic Brat 4,1:55.4s ($232,160) and Mom’s Millionaire 3,1:54.4 ($56,815), the dam of Snow White 2,1:52.4 ($1,433,551).

Other horses she owned were Cool Pink 4,1:54.2 ($149,295), Tooter Scooter p,3,1:51.1 ($567,400) and Valentino Sarnel p,2,1:56 ($114,604), who she raced back in 1983.

Thomson said, “Barbara loved her horses, often taking carrots and treats to them as they trained in Florida. Whether on TV or in person she seldom missed a race. She was a great partner and will truly be missed.”
