A barn fire at Zorgwijk Stables in Ontario on Friday caused what investigators are calling “hundreds of thousands of dollars” of damage but the two horses inside the barn were led to safety. The first started around 11 a.m. and was filled with hay and machinery; initial reports indicate the blaze may have started when a tractor inside caught fire.
Horses were also moved out of adjoining barns due to fear strong winds could send the flames whipping through the air. One person who led the two horses inside the burning barn to safety was taken to a local hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
