David Miller moved Bar Slide to the outside just before the half and worked his way up first-over before taking control at the three quarters and going on to a 2:00.1 victory over a "good" racetrack in the $62,127 Standardbred Stakes for 2-year-old filly trotters Wednesday afternoon at the Delaware, Ohio fairgrounds.
Gold Strike finished second for Aaron Merriman, with Kitefin Hanover third for John Campbell.
In the winner's circle, trainer Joe Holloway noted that Bar Slide had been afflicted with EPM, and that caused some erratic performances. Prior to Wednesday, Bar Slide made a break as one of the betting favorites in the $450,000 Goldsmith Maid final at Harrah's Chester.
A daughter of Yankee Glide, Bar Slide is owned by Rikki Caldwell and Bluestone Farms. The win, her third of the year in eight starts, increased her earnings to more than $52,000.b
