Barzgar comes up sick

Return Home
September 20, 2006 | Print View

Fox Valley Barzgar has developed a virus and will miss the upcoming Grand Circuit action at The Red Mile. Joe Frasure, assistant to Tom Harmer, told harnessracing.com Wednesday morning the the 2-year-old colt came up sick after his third-place finish last Saturday night in the $285,000 Orange & Blue at Balmoral Park.

"He went two steps forward and then nothing, and that's not like him at all," Frasure said while standing in the Log Cabin at the Delaware (Ohio) County Fairgrounds where he is preparing Jereme's Jet for Thursday's Little Brown Jug. "He had a slight temperature but he isn't going to be going to Lexington now."

A son of Incredible Finale, Fox Valley Barzgar has a career best of 1:50.2 set while winning the $410,000 Woodrow Wilson Pace final at the Meadowlands in early August. In the Orange & Blue he finished third behind world-champion Glass Pack. Overall, Fox Valley Barzgar has a ledger of 8-6-0-1 and earnings of $289,550. He is now owned by New Yorker Michael Polansky, who purchased the freshman in early July.
