Bath Beach lived up to her even-money status this evening at Mohawk, blasting to a three-length victory in the $67,000(C) final of the Princess Pacing Series for 3-year-old fillies. Paul MacDonell positioned the strapping daughter of Life Sign comfortably in third through the early fractions, while Blogette Hanover and Randy Waples did the heavy lifting up front. Topaz Seelster (Jack Moiseyev) rode the pocket past the half-mile marker, when MacDonell made his move, angling Bath Beach off the pylons to challenge both Topaz Seelster and Blogette Hanover, and power on by. Bath Beach then opened up a three-length lead to stop the timers in 1:52.3, with Grin Goddess (Jody Jamieson) and Real Heart rallying from the backfield for second and third. Bath Beach is trained and co-owned by Dean Nixon of LaSalle, Ont. with Jeff Rusnak and breeders Harry and Iris Horowitz of Brooklyn, N.Y. This was the filly’s fifth victory in 11 lifetime starts. She paid $4 for the win. (WEG)
