Wellthereyougo equaled the Battle of Waterloo stakes record with a 1:55 victory in Monday’s $300,000(C) renewal at Grand River Raceway. The race, for Ontario-sired 2-year-old pacers, was inaugurated at Elmira Raceway in 1998 as the highlight of its Industry Day card, but when that closed at the end of 2003 it was moved to Grand River the following year.

Wellthereyougo was driven by Randy Waples, a native of nearby Fergus, Ont., who won the Battle of Waterloo for the third time. Waples moved his charge to the lead at the opening quarter of :27.4 and then after repelling a bid from the first-over Youkeepmehangingon and Luc Ouellette past the :56.4, drew clear to score by 4 ¾ lengths over runner-up Stonebridge Tonic and Doug McNair, with Adrenaline and Rick Zeron third.

A $45,000 yearling purchase, the son of Camluck-Cheeky Hanover is owned by trainer Dr. Ian Moore, RG McGroup Ltd. and former hockey star Serge Savard, the same connections as 2008 Little Brown Jug winner Shadow Play.

FBS Terror scored a 9-1 upset in the inaugural $150,000(C) Battle of the Belles. Scott Zeron piloted the Western Terror filly to a seven-length score in a new lifetime best of 1:56.2 for trainer Mario Macri and Michael Guerriero of Moffat, Ont.

The Big Scoop finished second for trainer Randy Hill and brother Darryl Hill. Carl Jamieson trainee Mother Hen finished third.
