September 07, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Bee Line, a daughter of Self Possessed, established a New Jersey Sire Stakes record for 3-year-old trotting fillies with a 1:55.2 victory Thursday in a $49,200 leg of the NJSS series at Freehold Raceway. Bee Line's clocking erased the previous Sire Stakes mark of 1:56.1 for sophomore filly trotters that was set by Glide About in 2003.

With Jeff Gregory driving, Bee Line led from start to finish to win by a half-length over Heather’s Dream, who closed for second. Love On The Rocks finished third.

Bee Line, who won the Elegantimage at Woodbine in June, earned $24,600 with the win, boosting her 2006 purse earnings over $305,000. It was the fourth victory in 10 starts this year for the filly owned by Johanna Beaver of Delaware, Ohio.

Strive For Perfect, a son of Muscles Yankees, and Year In Review, sired by Self Possessed, were the winners of two $7,500 elimination heats for the $100,000 Harold R. Dancer Trot Final for New Jersey-sired 2 year olds. The Harold R. Dancer Trot final is scheduled for Sept. 14.

Trained and driven by Ray Remmen for owner John Lichtenberger, Strive For Perfect won in 1:59.1, earning his third victory in seven career starts. Steve Smith drove Year In Review to a 1:59.4 victory for trainer Karen Garland and owner George Bullukian. (By Leon Zimmerman/New Jersey Sire Stakes)
