Myron Bell is duly impressed with JK She'salady and Band Of Angels, who are both undefeated heading into Saturday's $480,000 She's A Great Lady for 2-year-old female pacers at Mohawk Racetrack, but he is hoping Bedroomconfessions can prove to be a worthy dark horse in the field.
Bedroomconfessions joined JK She'salady and Band Of Angels in winning She's A Great Lady eliminations last weekend. Bedroomconfessions won her division by one-quarter length over Bettor Be Steppin in 1:52. She will start the final from post four with driver Scott Zeron and is 7-1 on the morning line.
JK She'salady, who starts from post three for trainer Nancy Johansson and driver Yannick Gingras, is the 8-5 favorite while Band Of Angels, who leaves from post two for trainer Ron Burke and driver Ron Pierce, is 9-5.
"On paper, I think (Bedroomconfessions) is probably third best, but they don't win races on paper,” said Bell, who owns the filly with his wife, Stephanie, and trainer Tony Alagna. "She's been a good filly from the get-go and she's been improving in every start. She raced JK She'salady a couple times early in the year and wasn't disgraced, and I don't think she'll be disgraced this week.
"Right now, Nancy's filly is about the best out there. She's a very precocious filly. But we'll give it a good shot.”
Bedroomconfessions has won two of six starts, finished second on three occasions – twice to JK She'salady – and earned $50,386. She is a daughter of American Ideal and first foal out of the mare Turnoffthelights, who is a half-sister to millionaire Keystone Horatio.
The Bells' Riverview Farms, Alagna, and Minisink Farms bred Bedroomconfessions.
"I bought her dam, Turnoffthelights, as a yearling with the intention of breeding her to American Ideal," Bell said. "We got Bedroomconfessions, so we're pretty lucky. I like the maternal family a lot and that's the reason I bought Turnoffthelights. Someday, (Bedroomconfessions) will be a productive broodmare for us, I hope. We're just hoping she makes a few dollars on the racetrack.”
Bedroomconfessions is eligible to compete in the New York Sires Stakes, but has raced only once on the circuit, finishing fourth at Vernon Downs in a race won by Band Of Angels.
"She's big, she's growing quite a bit, so we want to be careful with her,” Bell said. "She's got another year, at least, to race hopefully. We skipped a lot of the New York part of (this) year because I didn't want to race her on a (half-mile racetrack). She'll go the rest of the year on the bigger tracks.
"We have a plan. We're working it. I hope it comes to fruition.” (HRC)
