The 3-year-old pacers take their first step on the road to the $1 million Meadowlands Pace in the $215,000 Berry’s Creek final on Saturday night at the Meadowlands. The Berry’s Creek is carded as race six on Saturday night, with an estimated 8:49 pm post time. First race is 7 pm.

Elimination winners Mucho Sleazy and Bullville Powerful earned the right to choose their post position in the final. Driver Andy Miller selected post two for Mucho Sleazy, who was given the slight nod as 5-2 morning line favorite. Mucho Sleazy turned in the faster elimination clocking of 1:50.3 as he rolled to a 1 1/14-length victory last week. The son of Sportsmaster has won seven of 19 career starts for owner-breeder Marty Engel of Buffalo Grove, Ill.

Mucho Sleazy is one of four Berry’s Creek finalists eligible to the $1 million Meadowlands Pace on July 19. Art Official, Blueridge Western and Four Starz Moxie are the other three colts in pursuit of the track’s signature event.

Bullville Powerful is rated as the 7-2 second choice after an impressive 1:50.4 score in his Berry’s Creek elimination. Driver Yannick Gingras elected to leave from post four with Bullville Powerful in the final. Stephen Crevani bred, owns and trains the son of Bettor’s Delight.

Art Official is the 9-2 third choice from post three. Tyler Buter has the assignment. The colt made a first-up bid and closed in :26 to finish second behind Bullville Powerful in his elimination. Art Official, trained by Joe Seekman, enters the Berry’s Creek with just two career wins, but has consistently picked up checks in his stakes appearances for a bankroll of $115,000.
