Big Bam Ray once again blew away the competition Sunday in the $35,000 Quebec Plus Elite final for 2-year-old pacers. The Yankee Cam colt followed the same script as the Coupe de L’Avenir, engaging pacesetter Reconciliation early on, drawing clear and widening the margin from there for his sixth consecutive victory. He was seven-and-a-half lengths the best this time for driver/trainer Daniel Martin, hitting the wire in a sharp 1:54, to boost his earnings to $126,580. Reconciliation held second. Second choice Cherry Grove, who won the other elimination last week, was fifth, placed ninth. A son of Yankee Cam also prevailed in Sunday’s $15,000 feature for older pacers. Five-year-old Sams My Name held off the rallying Power Park by a length in 1:52.1. (Hippodrome Montreal)
