Fashion Farm's homebred Fashion Delight won the first of three $46,000 Niatross divisions for 2-year-old colts and geldings Friday night at the Meadowlands, while Lookinforadventure remained perfect in four career starts in the second split and Shark Ingested, a full brother to the top-ranked $2.3 million-winning older pacer Shark Gesture, won the third.
Driver David Miller sent Fashion Delight to the front at the half and the son of Bettor's Delight went on to a 1 1/2-length win over the George Brennan-driven Roll With Joe in 1:51.2, equaling his career best set July 28 in a Big M overnight. The win was the second in four starts for the Jim Campbell trainee.
John Campbell also sent Lookinforadventure to the front at the half but the son of Rocknroll Hanover didn't get the lead easily. Driver Ron Pierce tried to keep his charge Vincent Fra in control but grudgingly gave way before tiring in the stretch. Lookinforadventure stayed game down the lane after securing the lead heading into the final turn, crossing the wire in 1:51.3, 1 1/4 lengths ahead of runner-up On The Radar, driven by Yannick Gingras.
Trained by Bruce Saunders for owner Frank Bellino, Lookinforadventure is now four-for-four in his brief career, a streak that includes the $200,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes final last month. The time in the Niatross was a career best for the $85,000 yearling purchase who now has $153,250 in earnings.
Shark Ingested posted his first win in five career attempts with a 1:53.2 effort for driver Brennan. Finishing a neck back in second was the Pierce-driven Grams Legacy.
A son of Cam's Cark Shark, Shark Ingested was a $110,000 yearling purchase by Norm Smiley, Gerald Smiley and the TLP Stable. The black colt is trained by Larry and Ray Remmen.
