Big M racing Saturday; Yonkers/Freehold cancels

While the Meadowlands has announced that Saturday night's live race card will go on as scheduled with a first-race post time of 7:15 p.m. Due to "Winter Storm Nemo," as dubbed by The Weather Channel, Yonkers will remained closed for the second straight night. Also, Freehold Raceway, which got its Friday afternoon card in under rainy conditions, has announced it has canceled its Saturday live program.

 

The entry box at the Meadowlands will close at 4 p.m. on Saturday for next Thursday's card. The entry box will close at 9 a.m. on Tuesday for next Friday's card. Three divisions of the opening round of the Junior Trendsetter for 3-year-old male pacers had been scheduled to be raced Friday night but the entire Friday card will be re-drawn. With the series delayed one week, the track has moved the Junior Trendsetter final back to Saturday night, March 2.

 

While live racing and simulcasting are canceled at Yonkers, the hardy slots players won't have to miss hardly a beat as the Empire City Casino is scheduled to open at noon.

 

Horsemen are again reminded that a Yonkers double draw for next Thursday/Friday (Feb. 14 & 15) takes place Monday (Feb. 11). Entry box for both days closes at 4 p.m.
