There were four lead changes to the half, but Enhance The Night was the last to make the front and then dug in to win the $47,300 Snow Angel Final in 1:52.3 at the Meadowlands Thursday night, completing her three-week series sweep.
The 3-year-old daughter of Western Ideal extended her winning streak to four and posted her sixth win with three seconds and five thirds from 20 starts. She's owned by Perfect World Enterprises and is trained by Erv Miller.
Spanish Rosey was a nose back in second while Heavenly Beauty, who started from post eight, was another neck back and finished third. Miller, who also trains Heavenly Beauty, won the 2005 Snow Angel with Vysoke Tatry.
“I wasn’t really confident when I made the lead [at the half],” said winning driver Yannick Gingras. “I had to get after her to get there. Three weeks in a row, the front end isn’t quite where she likes to be. That was the third week in the row, and it was pretty hard to get to the front. She showed she had a lot of class. She hung in there tough. At the top of the stretch, I was hoping for a check. But I got after her pretty good, and she just kept digging in.”
Enhance The Night has now banked $120,327 .
“There’s no doubt [she could be an open mare],” Gingras noted. “The next couple of weeks we’ll try to race her from the back and see how she reacts to that. There are a lot of Winter Series here, and she’s eligible to a bunch of them.”
Enhance The Night is eligible to a pair of three-week series for fillies and mares at the Meadowlands, the Night Styles with a $60,000 estimated final on March 7 and the Jersey Girls which offers a $70,000 estimated final on March 28. (Meadowlands press release)
