Colonial Downs hosted its first qualifiers as preparations finalize for the opening of the 36-day Standardbred meet on Monday, Sept. 4. Among the winners was Tell Me No Lies, a 2-year-old Donerail-Spicy Secret colt, who won by 40 3/4 lengths in 1:59.1.

Tell Me No Lies has yet to make his pari-mutuel debut for trainer-driver Jim Brittingham.

Colonial’s Standardbred meet will open on Labor Day with a 10-race card kicking off at 5 p.m. A special holiday fireworks show will follow racing at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Colonial will be dark on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and resume racing on Wednesday, Sept. 6. The meet will continue through Nov. 4 on a Tuesday through Friday schedule with a 5 p.m. post time.
