Big races will influence driver tourney

The road to the Tioga Downs first annual driver’s championship will have its last key stop with the $1 million Meadowlands Pace final on Saturday. The top seven money-winning drivers will be invited to participate at Tioga on Sunday, July 29, for prize money of $32,000.
 
With the post position draw for the Meadowlands Pace and driver changes on a few key horses, it is going to come down to the wire on the final list. If it were to stop today (Wednesday, July11) the top seven money winners in order would be Tim Tetrick, Brian Sears, Ron Pierce, Anthony Morgan, Yannick Gingras, David Miller and Andy Miller. However, on the outskirts with two main contenders in the Meadowlands Pace are George Brennan, driving Running Book, who pulled off one of the biggest upset victories so far this year with an amazing mile of 1:48.4. Brennan is currently in seventh place.
 
Mike Simons and Howard Parker are battling for the rights to represent Tioga Downs in the driving championship. The last open spot in the championship is decided as a sponsors exemption and will be determined after all other spots are determined. (Tioga Downs press release)
