Big Rigs speeds to series win at Pocono

Big Rigs, piloted by George Napolitano Jr., turned in the fastest time of the young freshman trotters Monday night, winning the fourth division of The Stallion Series for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings.

Trained by Kelly O'Donnell, Big Rigs was taken to the front from the six post in the seven-horse field and scored a wire to wire victory in 1:57. This was the first life start for the two-year-old Andover Hall colt.

Grateful John, trained by Steven Bush and driven by David Miller, was another wire to wire winner in The Stallion Series. Leaving from the six-hole, Miller put the young two-year-old Donerail colt on the front end right from the start of the race, stopping the timer in 1:59.2.

Broadway Legs, trained by driven by Trond Smedshammer, won another division with the timer reading 1:59.4. It was the first life start for the two-year-old Broadway Hall colt.

The most exciting stakes race of the night occurred when Way Back When, driven by John Campbell, “ flew” down the stretch to win by a half length over 4-5 favorite Slickster (Miller).

Sitting fifth at the top of the stretch and several lengths back of Slickster, Way Back When was full of trot and in high gear in winning his division.
