The Ontario Racing Commission announced Thursday that the director John Blakney has issued a Notice of Proposed Order to suspend the license of owner/trainer/driver Bill Elliott of Caledonia, Ont., for a period of 10 years, and ordered a $40,000 fine, and that purse monies and all trainer and driver fees earned by the horse Michelle's Power during a period ruled ineligible to race shall be returned and redistributed.
As a result of the presence of darbepoeitin-alpha (DPO) found in the blood sample taken on Aug. 29, 2007 on Michelle's Power, she was determined to have been ineligible to race between Aug. 29, 2007 and Nov. 24, 2007.
According to a Racing Commission release, the penalties are expected to be appealed.
